We offer tours for families, individuals, corporate groups, small school groups. We also have events that we do that include crafts, animal cuddles and a tour where we tell the rescue stories of our animals. Our typical tour includes meeting all of the animals, feeding some animals and petting some of the animals.
Reason for offering tours/programs/activities:
We offer these tours as a way to educate people about the different ways animals need to be rescued. We also ensure we talk about and show people how animals have feelings and emotions just like humans. We do these tours to encourage empathy and compassion for animals.
Typical visit duration:
One hour for the tour. Some people bring a picnic lunch and stay a little longer.
Sanctuary's mission:
ABAR is dedicated to educating hearts and minds to support the growth of a healthy community. We do this by providing time and space for people to learn about the resiliency of our rescue animals and encourage them to take this new learning out into their everyday life.
Recommended activity:
Meeting the animals and hearing about how they went from a bad situation to learning how to trust and be happy again. We want them to understand that resiliency, compassion and kindness are all important tools to go through life with.
Preparation for visiting:
Do check out our website and read about our animals and to also help children understand the the difference between an animal rescue, a farm and a zoo prior to visiting us. We would love for you to come with great questions, if any.

Volunteer opportunities:
We are always looking for bright, happy, animal-loving volunteers, as well as experienced animal people to help on the farm. But you don't have to travel up to our Morgan Hill farm to volunteer. We have plenty to do right from the comfort of your own office. Reach out to us to learn more!
Operating hours:
We are only available on weekends from 10:00 - 1:00 for tours.
Entrance fee:
We ask for a donation, but do not have a set fee as we never want money to be a barrier for families.

Nearby attractions & state parks:
A lot of families stop at our place before heading to Gilroy Gardens. We also have Magical Bridge Playground in Morgan Hill. Uvas Park is a great hiking spot, Chesbro, Uvas Reservoir and Calero are also very close by.
Additional information:
Please ensure you are dressed for any weather and everyone is wearing sturdy closed-toe shoes. Although we love all animals please leave your fur family members at home.
